Ville de Genève started to implement its Strategic plan of revegetation (le Plan stratégique de végétalisation (PSV)) to face the challenges of climate change. Le PSV foresees plantation of 100 trees every year as well as the flowering of the feet of trees, the corners of streets, open places near schools and the roofs of parking. Experiments also will be conducted to grow plants on the facades.
According to the new initiative, the citizens could chose a specific place to revegetate (in front of a building, a square of asphalt, a foot of tree, etc.) with an engagement to maintain it. There is a (free) application form to be send to the municipal services, containing the description of the individual project, indicating its place and commitment to preserve it without using pesticides.
